Acupuncture is effective for the treatment of many eye disorders including visual disturbances such as floaters and lines, blurry vision, uneven tracking, and itchy/burning eyes. Also, wet macular degeneration eye care is essential with herbs and acupuncture.

Many years ago, I was trained by a Chinese master in the highly specialized methods of treating eye disorders. In many cases, visual disorders are completely eliminated and in other cases they can be successfully managed. Acupuncture cannot reverse optic nerve damage but can treat many other eye conditions successfully. If you have any questions concerning eye treatments, feel free to contact me at my office or by email via the contact button on this website.

Macular Degeneration

Patients have enjoyed success in the treatment of wet macular degeneration at my clinic. Incredible new pharmaceuticals such as ranibizumab (Lucentis) are often profoundly helpful in treating this condition. However, these medications may not be sufficient to fully protect eyesight. In these cases, the addition of acupuncture to the regime of care helps to stabilize and often improve eyesight.

Retinitis

Acute and chronic retinitis respond to acupuncture eye care protocols. In the case of acute retinitis due to trauma, clinical results are typically rapid and result in complete recovery.

For chronic retinitis, acupuncture helps to reduce inflammation, improve micro-circulation in the retina and prevent deterioration of photoreceptors (cones and rods). Often, chronic retinitis is not curable as in the case of retinitis pigmentosa. However, acupuncture may help to slow the deterioration process such that my patients have a chance to maintain their eyesight throughout their lives. For these cases, it is important that my patients work closely with their ophthalmologists so that we can determine the degree to which acupuncture is efficacious in the treatment of this condition.
